- Generator and transfer switch: The generator transfer switch must be installed on the load side of the meter base, never integrated with or in series with the meter. Oncor asks installers to confirm whether the transfer switch is open or closed transition.
- Solar approval: Solar needs an Oncor interconnection application, and Oncor treats a system as certified when it meets UL 1741 and the applicable parts of IEEE 1547.

- Disconnect: HILCO requires a visible, lockable, labeled AC disconnect between its meter and member equipment, mounted separately from the metering and lockable with a HILCO padlock, and says molded-case breakers are not acceptable. - Supply-side tap: HILCO publishes a line-side option: a connection ahead of the service equipment must be made after the HILCO revenue meter, in a fusible, lockable AC disconnect, and pre-approved by HILCO.
- Solar approval: HILCO must approve the solar application before installation, with a $250 fee under 50 kW. Inverters must be tested to UL 1741 and IEEE 1547, and HILCO gives permission to operate after a site inspection.
